Telling The Truth
When we’re honest with others, we’re telling them that we respect them enough to give them the truth. Being truthful doesn’t mean answering every question that someone asks or sharing everything we know about a situation. Not everyone needs to have extensive answers to their questions. You can tell the difference between a person who needs information and one who’s nosy.
When speaking with people, it helps to use tact — telling the truth in a nice way. We can reply to people by saying, “That’s a question I’d rather not answer,” or “I don’t feel comfortable sharing that information.” Tact can be used in many situations so you can tell the truth in a nonabrasive way.
